– Bookkeeping Genius –

Mealshare exists because not every youth has access to enough food, and we don’t think that’s okay. We’re a non-profit social enterprise that makes it easy for people to provide meals to youth in need. Just buy a Mealshare item at any of our partner restaurants, and you’re providing one simple, healthy meal to a youth in need. We’re excited to be adding to our team of passionate change makers!

History Lesson:

We launched in the summer of 2013 with four partner restaurants in Alberta. Since then we’ve grown to 450+ restaurants in 40+ communities. The Mealshare team is a tight-knit family that works collaboratively and efficiently to change the world. We need you to help keep our books organized and on track so that we’ll continue to be able to grow and make a huge impact!

A day in the life of a Bookkeeping Genius:

With the support of our team and accountant, you’ll work independently to manage the organization’s records, invoices and accounting. Duties include:

  • Generating monthly financial reports, keeping financial statements up to date, bank reconciliations and prepping for audits
  • Maintaining/recording all financial transactions via QuickBooks Online

What it takes:

You’re a passionate individual who has a track record of success! You’re sharp, organized and experienced with QuickBooks Online (if you’re not experienced with QuickBooks Online, then convince us that you’re a fast learner and have what it takes to become and expert quickly!). We are looking for someone with 3+ years of relevant experience. Our ideal Bookkeeping Genius is:

Here are a handful of the tasks we need help with:

  • Creating Monthly Financial Reports (in QuickBooks)
  • Creating Quarterly Financial Reports (in QuickBooks) for presentation to Board and Founders
  • Preparing  deposits and recording (in QuickBooks)
  • Tracking donations (in QuickBooks)
  • Tracking PayPal entries (in QuickBooks)
  • Processing EFT payments and managing (in QuickBooks)
  • Processing employee expenses and handling reimbursement
  • Bill tracking
  • Visa expense tracking and payment
  • Managing bank statements
  • Paying salaries and taxes
  • Managing accounts receivable
  • Managing accounts payable
  • Processing payments/donations
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Preparing for annual audits
  • Completing government fillings
  • Continually analyzing our bookkeeping/financial processes/policies and optimizing to ensure efficiency

Tell us how you heard about Mealshare, and why you want to work with us. We’ll be accepting applications until May 15th, and hope to have you start by July 2nd. This is a contract position, which will pay $18-22 per hour (depending on experience and expertise). We expect the position will take somewhere around 15-20 hours per week (ish). There will be room for this to grow in the future as Mealshare continues to expand. We are thrilled to accommodate the family-focused working professional to provide an amazing work-life balance. You will have an extremely flexible schedule. Location is also entirely flexible, and we prefer that work is conducted from your home!
